Meeting Highlights

 

The following are highlights from our last business meeting. This is not meant to replace the official meeting minutes. The intent is to inform all of our members on our activities. Applications for new membership: One, David Dubas (Approved by Members) 

 

The treasurer reported our new balance as: $5,068.20 

 

New Reports and Actions:

  

  • The first Council newsletter was sent out prior to this meeting.
  • NC State Deputy has requested that all councils plan an event in observance of Columbus Day. 
  • Peter Kraehenbuehl reviewed the latest proposed 2007-2008 budget with the members.  The Budget was approved by the Members. 
  • Joe Cox  is getting estimates for foundation and brick work for new barbecue grill/pit. 
  • The next Adopt-a-Highway is scheduled for 9/8/07 @ 9:00 a.m.
  • Jim Haag asked for a volunteer to head up the "Keep Christ in Christmas" (Christmas Cards) program
  • Tom DuPree of Council #9709 gave a short overview of Operation Lamb.  It will be held at the Harris Teeter on Falls of the Neuse and Durant during the last weekend in October and the first weekend in November.  Members will work 2-hour shifts from Friday through Sunday each weekend.
  • The next Pancake Breakfast will be held on September 16, 2007.
  • The Car Raffle will be held on 11/10/07 and will feature a new Chevrolet Cobalt and cash prizes.  Tickets will go on sale the weekend of 9/15 & 9/16.  500 tickets will be available for sale and will also be sold after masses, at the pancake breakfast and Parish picnic in October.  The car will also be shown after selected masses and at the Parish picnic.
  • Dave Abell handed out compact flourescent light bulbs (CFLs)to the members at the meeting and explained the finacial and environmental benefits of using CFLs.
  • Mike Burkitt explained the Ad Altere Dei award program for Catholic Boy Scouts and that there are 5 area scouts interested in this program.  Mike requested a donation from the Coucil.  A donation of $50 was approved by the members.
  • A donation of $50 was approved by the members for the "Students for Life" group at Hillsdale College in reply to Marissa Ferrel's request (Todd's daughter).
  • The members also approved a $200 donation to Birthchoice.
  • Frst and Second degree exemplifications are scheduled for 9/22/07 at Our Lady of Lourdes in Raleigh.  A third degree is scheduled for 9/29/07 at St. Michael's in Cary (#6650).  Several members/candidates from our Council will be attending.
  • A fourth degree is scheduled for 10/20/07 in Concord, NC per Tom Dupree.
