Meeting Highlights

 

The following are highlights from our last business meeting. This is not meant to replace the official meeting minutes. The intent is to inform all of our members on our activities. The treasurer reported our new balance as: $4,477.36

 

New Reports and Actions:

 

  • Grand Knight, Jim Haag, expressed his gratitude to the following:

            The Sancinetos for the Council Christmas Party / Dave Abell for his coordination of the Adopt-a-Highway program / Jon Cochran for coordinating the pancake breakfasts / The Council's Fourth                Degree Knights for their participation in several parish events / and the Knights and volunteers who installed bricks in the Church grotto for the deceased knights of our Council.     

  • A letter was received from Peter Kraehenbuhl thanking the Council for its contribution to the purchase of the lift-chair needed during his convalescense. 
  • Jim Haag reported that 17,600 voluntary hours were spent by the Council in 2007.
  • The Council has a digital camera available for use at any of our events.
  • Interest has been been expressed in a closed men's Ignatian Retreat.  A two-day retreat is being scheduled for June at the Avila Retreat Center in Durham.
  • Jim Haag and other officers of the Council attended the Mid-Year State Council meeting in Greenville, NC on 1/19/08.
  • Tom Lindsey was nominated to fill the vacant position of Outside Guard and the nomination was approved by the members. 
  • Jim Haag asked for a volunteer for the vacant position of Vocations Director.
  • Mike Benigno reported that 2008 dues notices had been sent out to all Council members. 
  • Barbecue Pit:  Joe Cox reported that the exterior wall of the pit is almost completed.  Joe mentioned that volunteers are welcome to help lay brick on 1/5/08 and 1/6/08 and each weekend thereafter until the first weekend in February.  There will be a Super Bowl party on 2/3/08 in the parish hall and the barbecue pit is planned to be used for this party.
  • Youth Ministry:  Men's and women's retreats are scheduled the first weekend of January and the Feb.2 Swing Dance will be promoted at the Vita Nova meetings per Matt Aremia.
  • Tom Lindsey reminded all members of the Raleigh March for Life scheduled for 1/12/08 and the National March for Life on 1/22/08 in Washington, DC.
  • New Business:  The St. Patrick's Day Dance is tentatively scheduled for 3/15/08.                                    

                                   Roses will be distributed to the women of the Parish for Valentine's Day after all masses during the weekend of February 16/17.

                                   The next Pancake Breakfast is scheduled for Sunday, February 17.

                                   The next Corporate Mass is scheduled for March 9 at the 10:30 a.m. mass.                                  

                                   Coucnil contributions for the Church's new chalice and paten will be discussed at the February meeting.

                                   A motion was made to donate $200 to Catholic Parish Outreach.  The donation was approved by the members.
